Peterson and Burbank Elementary Schools Visit UC Merced in Spring 2017
On April 11, 2017, 75 students from Merced, California in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade participated in fun and engaging STEM activities (Merced Sun Star video clip) on the campus of UC Merced, hosted by the NSF-CREST CCBM, with participation from CCBM affiliates and other UC Merced staff and graduate students.

Students participated in lab tours in CCBM faculty laboratories including Drs. Victor Muñoz, Sayantani Ghosh, Kara McCloskey, Bin Liu, and Tao Ye. Graduate students led hands-on demonstrations and explorations that were managed by Dr. Donna Jaramillo-Fellin. The young scientists and engineers were treated to a pizza lunch, then got to see how liquid nitrogen ice cream is made and to test it out!

On April 13, 2018, 45 students from Merced, California participated in fun and engaging STEM activities on the campus of UC Merced, hosted by the NSF-CREST CCBM, with participation from CalTeach, CCBM affiliates and other UC Merced staff and graduate students.
These McSwain students were learning about Habitats, Changing Matter, Sinking and Floating, Fossil Fuels, Erosion, Lakes, Mountains, and Rock Cycles in their classrooms. The CCBM coordinated a visit that focused on these areas, which included a Lizard Habitat session with Dr. Dan Edwards, STEM activities led by Dr. Donna Jarmillo-Fellin with CCBM graduate students and CalTeach undergraduate students, ending with an exciting tour of the Mammoth Exhibit in the UC Merced library led by Digital Scholarship Librarian, Jerrold Shiroma.
