The CCBM recently added a new piece of equipment to its inventory: C-Trap™ Optical Tweezers!
"A C-Trap™, optical tweezers coupled with fluorescence microscopy, has been successfully installed at the University of California, Merced. The system is shared by the research groups of Prof. Eva de Alba and Prof. Victor Muñoz.
Their labs focus on the study of proteins, which are involved in almost all cellular processes. This makes the study of protein folding, dynamics, and function key to understanding the fundamental processes of life. The C-Trap™ contributes to their research by enabling the manipulation of single proteins, observation of (un)folding mechanics, and transitions of conformational states in real-time.
