Dr. Nigel Goldenfeld holds a Center for Advanced Study Professorship and a Swanlund Endowed Chair at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with appointments in the Department of Physics and the Institute for Genomic Biology.
Emergence
On November 26, 2018, Dr. Nigel Goldenfeld discussed the collective behavior of complex systems and the new laws of physics which describe these emergent states of matter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He provided a number of examples from recent research in biology and fluid dynamics. CCBM affiliates watched the livestreamed event together in SE2-324.
