2nd Annual CCBM Open House/External Advisory Board Meeting Highlights Center Research and Outreach

The 2nd Annual CCBM Open House was held jointly with the CCBM External Advisory Board Meeting on Monday, October 22, where it invited the local community to attend activities throughout the day on UC Merced’s campus. The event started with presentations about the center and its efforts and from the CCBM Executive Committee members, Victor Muñoz, Ajay Gopinathan, and Sayantani Ghosh, CCBM Executive Director, Carrie Kouadio, and CCBM Project Scientists, David Quint and Mourad Sadqi. Later, attendees were given presentations from CCBM scientists and their student research assistants regarding the latest research developments in their labs. Dr. Tal Danino, a TED fellow, biomedical engineer and synthetic biologist from Columbia University gave a keynote address entitled, "Synthetic Biology: From Programming Bacteria Behaviors to Cancer Therapies." The event also provided lab tours for attendees and held a poster session highlighting research done by CCBM high school, undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
